Welcome to the Orlando Bass Fishing home page where you can find information covering the lakes that Florida Bass Adventures Guide Service offers clients the opportunity to experience world class trophy bass fishing. If you want to experience the excitement of trophy bass fishing there are very few places that can offer what the Orlando area has. There are numerous lakes in the area to choose from for your bass fishing trip but we have chosen to focus only on the very best and most famous to provide clients the best opportunity to experience catching a big Florida bass.

LAKE TOHO - The Headwaters for the Kissimmee River which leads South to Lake Okeechobee, Lake Toho is abundant with natural Florida vegetation as well as Hydrilla which helps provide cover for big bass. A majority of Lake Toho is still owned by cattle ranchers so there are very few homes on the lake allowing anglers to see Florida in it's natural setting. Both live bait and artificial lures account for trophy bass caught but there are certain times during the year where one technique will be most productive. Almost all bass fishing is done in 4 feet or less in thick vegetation using weedless lures. Top water action can be found on any lake in Florida year round but Lake Toho bass can totally demolish top water lures when presented properly.

In a 2001 B.A.S.S. tournament a new record for a 5 bass limit was established when a competitor brought in 45lbs 02 oz of fish to the scales averaging 9lbs per fish! The 4 day record was also established in that tournament at 108lbs 04 oz. While this record has since been broken Lake Toho secured it's place in the record books as one of the best fisheries in the country. Because of Lake Toho's reputation and proximity to the theme parks it is the primary lake for Florida Bass Adventures
Orlando Bass Guide Service due to it's consistent ability to produce trophy bass. No other lake in Orlando can match the number of trophy bass that Lake Toho produces day in and day out.

THE ST JOHNS RIVER - Flowing from Central Florida North for 310 miles is the St Johns river. An amazing river system and the only one that actually flows North the St Johns River is abundant with trophy sized bass, big Gators, Manatees, Eagles and Ospreys. The experience of fishing here is one that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lifetime. Year after year, it continuously produces excellent trophy bass results that has help Florida to be deemed the "Bass Fishing Capital of the World" and it all starts with this river system! It is one of those rare bodies of water that produces both quantity and quality, along with a never ending breath of beauty. The 300+ miles of the St. Johns River system is a study in diversity and unlimited fishing options.

Located just North of Orlando the St Johns River is an anglers paradise with lake fishing, river fishing and backwater fishing that can provide an array of fishing techniques. Most fishing is done in shallow water that is 3 feet or less and can be crystal clear at times. Because of the amount of vegetation and habitat anglers can expect to see an abundunce of wildlife on the St Johns River, especially big gators and on occasion manatees.

LAKE KISSIMMEE - Covering roughly 35,000 acres Lake Kissimmee is the largest of the 5 lakes that make up the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and is the furthest South of Orlando. Lake Kissimmee has a long reputation for producing trophy bass as well as quality crappie and bluegill fishing. In 1996 Lake Kissimmee underwent an extreme drawdown and habitat enhancement project in 1996 where 24 miles of shoreline were enhanced by the removal of accumulated organic sediment and associated vegetation that was too dense to provide optimum fishing habitat. Subsequently, more beneficial native vegetation became established in enhanced areas which provided improved spawning and nursery habitat for fish.

Since the drawdown many signs of the success can be seen through tournament results most notably the 2006 Bassmaster Classic that was won by an angler fishing Lake Kissimmee exclusively for the entire 3 days of the tournament. In 2004 mother nature did her part to improve Lake Kissimmee by steering a hurricane directly over the lake again clearing out decaying plant matter on the bottom of the lake.

As the largest lake in the Kissimmee chain and the furthest from Orlando, Lake Kissimmee gets relatively light fishing pressure from anglers making it a great choice to spend a day. Just a short boat ride from Lake Kissimmee are Lake Cypress and Lake Hatchineha. Both trophy bass lakes in their own right and as they are part of the Kissimmee chain fish very similar to the more well known Lake Kissimmee and Lake Toho.

THE BUTLER CHAIN OF LAKES - The Butler Chain of Lakes are located in the Northwest portion of Orlando, Florida just minutes from Disney and Universal Studios.

The Butler chain of Lakes are unique to the Orlando area in that they consist of deeper, clear water lakes. Created by Karst Topography which is a process where limestone is washed away by the aquifer that flows under portions of Florida. As the limestone washes away a sinkhole forms creating a lake. These types of lakes are perfect for bass because of their crystal clear water, submergent vegetation and year round growing season.

Schooling fish can be found 12 months out of the year making this chain excellent for topwater fishing. Due to the clear water nature of this chain light tackle with light line are best for catching Butler chain bass. Finesse fishing works extremely well on this chain but anglers are not fishing for small bass as many clients catch bass in the 8 to 9 lb range. Live bait is also excellent on this chain catching bass from depths ranging anywhere from 3 feet to 40 feet.

A side benefit to fishing on the Butler Chain are the magnificent homes that can be seen from the lake. Celebrities such as Tiger Woods, Shaquille O'Neal and Ken Griffey Jr. own homes on this chain.

A trip to the Butler chain can be a great experience especially for anglers wanting to use light line spinning gear or even fly fishing. Fishing pressure on the Butler Chain is minimal Monday-Friday with occasional tournaments held on the weekends. Recreational traffic is also reasonable during the week. Weekend traffic does pick up but generally not before 11:00 a.m.
