DAYTONA 500 - February 18 - 26, 2012 - Forty-three of the top drivers in the world compete in “The Great American Race,” NASCAR's biggest, richest and most prestigious motorsports event. Every year Nascar comes to the Daytona Beach area right in the midst of our big bass season on lakes that are just minutes from the track. Closest to the Daytona 500 track is the world famous St. Johns River. An amazing river system and the only one that actually flows North the St Johns River is abundant with trophy sized bass, big Gators, Manatees, Eagles and Ospreys. The experience of fishing here is one that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lifetime. Year after year, it continuously produces excellent trophy bass results that has help Florida to be deemed the "Bass Fishing Capital of the World" and it all starts with this river system! It is one of those rare bodies of water that produces both quantity and quality, along with a never ending breath of beauty. The 300+ miles of the St. Johns River system is a study in diversity and unlimited fishing options all just a short drive from the track. BASSMASTER TOUR - St. Johns River Palatka Florida March 15th, 2012 - March 18th, 2012 - Lucky 7 plus one marks the 2012 Bassmaster Elite Series schedule. It’s the seventh year of the world’s premier competitive bass fishing circuit and with it comes seven premium venues for the world’s top professional anglers. B.A.S.S. has held 17 professional-level events on the St. Johns, most recently the 2011 Elite Series Power-Pole Citrus Slam won by Edwin Evers of Talala, Okla., with 77 pounds, 1 ounce. On a historical note, at the 1973 Florida Invitational on the St. Johns, Bob Tyndal caught a 12-pound, 13-ounce largemouth that stood as the biggest in B.A.S.S. history for 24 years. ICAST - JULY 11-13 Orlando, Florida - The International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades, better known as ICAST will be making its second trip to the Orlando Convention Center ICAST is produced by the American Sportfishing Association (ASA), the sportfishing industry’s trade association, which looks out for the interests of the entire sportfishing community. ICAST is the premier showcase for the latest innovations in fishing gear, accessories and apparel and is the cornerstone of the sportfishing industry, helping to drive sportfishing companies’ product sales year round. It would be hard to imagine anyone coming to ICAST and not spending a day on the water to test out the new gear that will make up the 2012 ICAST show. These events are a non stop 24 hour a day event for vendors but for those coming to check out the show there is no better place to be than at that Orlando Convention Center for trophy bass fishing. Like many events held here anglers will be staying right in the middle of Florida's best trophy bass fishing lakes.
